Gahmen projects SUX!
Was reading Ken Chee’s blog entry regarding the silliest payment system here
Had my share of horrible experiences lately. GLC as well. The sequence of events:
1. My company was engaged to re-brand a company website.
2. Taking it as an entry level project, we provided a low budgetary quote.
3. They demanded immediate responses for all their requests. Everything is “urgent”. After we responded, they would take more than two weeks before reverting with amendments and additions to their earlier “urgent” request. They think we are a one-client company.
4. Months after the design was confirmed, (and after spending 2 months fine tuning it) they demanded that we totally change and resubmit a new design within THREE days.
5. In the last week before handover, they wanted to add 200 additional pages into the website.
6. Even after the project was officially handed over, they continued to badger us regarding their server admin issues and what nots.
All these changes were made at no extra costs, all opportunity costs borne by us. Probably course am still rather young to business. Hence got conned. It did teach us very crucial lessons indeed.
1. Never undercut ourselves.
2. Be firm when dealing with unreasonable people.
2. Avoid gahmen projects like a plague!!!
